Take Control of Your Airport Network

I really like the idea of the Take Control series of instructional PDF documents. For $5, I purchased the Take Control of Your AirPort Network book (155 pages!), by Glenn Fleishman, and used it to improve the setup of my home WiFi network. Now, I have my Airport Extreme base station secured with the WPA Personal authentication and encryption system, have configured my network with an Access Control List, and have my Airport Express setup as a WDS bridging network extender, with AirTunes music streaming enabled.

OSX Application Help

When I'm using an OS X application, and need to refer to the Help menu, I jump for joy when I find access to a PDF user's manual, and nearly break down in tears when finding the alternative -- i.e. something implemented for Apple's Help Viewer. Given that so many developers build Apple-based help for their applications, there must be some advantages. I would guess these advantages are more aimed at developers, because as a user I'd prefer PDF any day.

A MacOS X System for Automating Movable Type Comment Spam Deletion

On this weblog, I use Movable Type version 2.x and the MT-Blacklist 1.6.5 plug-in for the management of comment spam. As I mentioned in this article, it can be really time consuming to manually process all the incoming spam notification emails from MT-Blacklist. I've now implemented a solution to help automate this processing. It's not perfect, but it is saving me a lot of time.
