Francisco Javier Pareja organized another fun chess tournament today in San Pedro. As usual the kids did better than me — finishing first and second in their categories. The bright side of my own performance was that I managed not to completely give away any pieces. In fact, for the first time, I won a game against a good player in an end-game.

Matt, your kids seem to excel at chess. Well done!
Did you teach them? Following any special method?
This is my favourite blog about chess:

Have a nice week.
Jose, I didn’t teach them. Two summers ago they went to a music camp, and they met a boy who was the champion of Cordoba. He got my kids interested in chess, and we put them in chess classes here locally. They started learning really fast, and I then got interested.
At the rate they can learn at this age, their coach told me I can forget ever catching them. 🙂
