Continuing in my spammer Hall of Shame series, here’s an persistent (and ongoing) series of spam from Spencer Mains at a company called LiveRamp. Spencer, being the hipster type, is fond of “bumping his way to the top of my inbox”, in an effort to just “circle up” and “hop on a call.”
Since 2011, I’ve been receiving spam from this company, Designstraw, and always with the same, “We’re looking to take on a few extra projects…”

As a past user of Reflector—an app for mobile device mirroring—I wasn’t surprised to receive an email announcing the availability of version 2. When I received the second email, I figured it was a mistake. And when I received the third, I thought their mailing system was broken, and that surely they’d get it fixed.
Today, when I received what seemed like the 10th copy, I decided to reach out. Turns out, their intent is to email you multiple times—until you either click something or they can confirm that you’ve opened the email. Absolutely shameful.
